Excellence in Mentoring Award Nominations Open

Submission Deadline is January 16, 2018

DES MOINES, IOWA — Volunteer Iowa today released nomination materials for the 2018 Excellence in Mentoring Awards.  Nominations must be submitted online or postmarked by January 16, 2018; honorees will be recognized during National Volunteer Week next April.  Details and nomination materials are online at www.volunteeriowa.org.

The Excellence in Mentoring Award honor individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to expanding quality mentoring relationships for young people in Iowa through service as a mentor to a young person.

Mentoring programs, currently certified by the Iowa Mentoring Partnership, may nominate a mentor who has been mentoring for at least two years for the Excellence in Mentoring Award.  Qualified nominees possess a compelling mentoring story that illustrates how positive experiences alter the life of a young person for the better.

“Mentors across the state are making a difference every day by engaging with young people in meaningful relationships that are linked to improved academic, social, and economic prospects for mentees.  We encourage Iowans to nominate one of the thousands of mentors who have answered the call to volunteer with a high-quality mentoring program,” stated Mary Sheka, Iowa Mentoring Partnership Director.

The Excellence in Mentoring Awards are coordinated by Volunteer Iowa.  For more information, e-mail mentor@iowaeda.com or call 1.800.308.5987.
